What is Bioesthetics?
Bioesthetics is the study of teeth and jaws as they occur in nature. Specifically, Bioesthetic tooth form consists of first, stable condylar position (as determined functionally and objectively by measuring), second, anterior proprioceptive guidance (think radar for the jaws so they know where to travel), and third, back teeth that fit properly together to give chewing function. It is a process for helping the teeth and jaws work in harmony. It begins with healing the jaw joint. Typically when the jaw joint is in a stable position the teeth will not fit together because the jaw moves out of the socket to adapt the position of the teeth. This position is probably not coordinated with a stress free position of your jaw joint which results in stress on the teeth. Just like a chain, the weak link will break down first. This could result in headache or jaw pain, aggravated gum disease, teeth dying (requiring root canal), tooth wear, sensitivity, notching at the gum line, or recession of the gums. A balanced teeth and jaw system will last a lifetime. Bio-esthetics gives health, beauty, function, and longevity.
